Donation & Payment Refund Policy

Last updated: September 26, 2025

Part Of The Solution Nonprofit Inc. (“POTS”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Georgia communities. Because charitable contributions are intended to support our mission, all donations are generally final and non-refundable. This policy safeguards the integrity of our fundraising and ensures that funds are used for their intended charitable purposes.

That said, we’ll review requests on a case-by-case basis to correct errors, prevent fraud, and honor donor intent as required by law.

1) When We May Issue a Refund

POTS may approve a refund at our discretion when one of the following applies:

  • Duplicate or accidental donation (e.g., an extra click or wrong amount).

  • Unauthorized transaction (e.g., stolen card); we may request documentation.

  • Processing error by POTS or our payment processor.

  • Failure of restricted-purpose use (e.g., we are unable to use a restricted gift for the stated restriction); we will seek donor consent for re-designation first, consistent with Georgia law protecting donor-imposed restrictions.

Note: There is no general legal requirement to refund charitable contributions; refunds are an organizational courtesy in limited circumstances.

2) What Is Not Refundable

  • General donations properly received and processed.

  • In-kind gifts (goods/services).

  • Event tickets/registrations unless an event is canceled by POTS.

  • Sponsorships or “quid pro quo” gifts where benefits were provided.

  • Gifts made more than 90 days ago (outside the review window), unless required by law or card-network rules.

3) How to Request a Refund

Email partofthesolution@gmail.com within 30 days of the transaction and include:

  • Donor name, email/phone, and mailing address

  • Date, amount, and method of payment

  • Receipt/confirmation number

  • Reason for the request and any supporting documents

We aim to respond within 10 business days. If approved, refunds are issued to the original payment method; timing depends on your bank/processor.

4) Chargebacks & Fraud Prevention

We work with our payment processors to investigate disputed transactions and suspected scams (e.g., fake-check “donate then request partial refund”). We may decline refund requests while a bank or card-network dispute is pending and will follow their final determination.

5) Recurring Donations

You can change or cancel a recurring donation at any time, effective for future charges. Please contact us at least 3 business days before the next scheduled charge. Charges already processed follow this refund policy.

6) Tax Receipts & IRS Reporting

POTS issues receipts acknowledging donations as required by the IRS; donors should keep these for tax purposes. If a donation is refunded in a later tax year, you may need to consult your tax advisor about reporting.

7) Donor Intent, Georgia Compliance & Transparency

POTS complies with Georgia’s Charitable Solicitations Act and related guidance for charitable organizations. Questions or complaints about solicitations in Georgia may be directed to the Georgia Secretary of State—Charities Division or the Georgia Attorney General’s Consumer Protection resources.

8) Third-Party Platforms

If you donated via a third-party platform (e.g., peer-to-peer, employer portals), you may be subject to that platform’s refund rules. We will assist where possible, but the final decision may rest with the platform or processor.

9) Policy Updates

We may update this policy to reflect operational or legal changes. The “Last updated” date will be revised when changes are posted.
